Today, we’ve made a home for ourselves in downtown San Saba, Texas – meeting friends and serving fantastic wines grown and produced right there in Texas.

Look back with us as we remember some of the highlights from our first year — from the grand opening of our tasting room to the first grape crush to a thriving Texas winery ready to bottle its own wines.

What a year it has been! It’s hard to believe our beautiful tasting room and modern winery building used to be an old title company office and empty lot here in downtown San Saba.

The past year has been an incredible experience for us. It was just a year ago that our winery and tasting room were just shells. Now, the buildings are complete and they are every bit as beautiful as we hoped they would be.

Our customers have been wonderful in the way they have supported our winery – especially local residents of San Saba County. Our neighbors have embraced us, even bringing out-of-town friends and relatives to the winery.

We produced the above video as a look back at 2012 — where we were to where we are headed. Our first year open is just the beginning. The barrels full of wine in our winery building are proof of that!

Since our winery opened, we’ve had a lot of positive interest from the community. Soon after opening in July, General Manager Mike McHenry led a tour into the facility to explain the winery’s operations.

About one ton of Grenache grapes were sent through the de-stemmer/crusher at Wedding Oak Winery in July 2012, soon after the winery opened for production.

About one ton of grapes arrive at Wedding Oak Winery Saturday, July 28, 2012. The Grenache grapes were the first to arrive at the new winery facility and became the first fruit to be processed in its equipment.

In the video above, Master Winemaker Penny Adams explains her plans for the Grenache which will be part of a new Wedding Oak red wine blend that will include Mourvedre, Cinsault and Syrah.
