Wedding Oak Winery Releases New Vintages at Wine Club Pick-Up Party on March 6

16th Feb 2016 @ 10:55 by Matt

We are holding our annual spring Wine Club Pick-up Party on Sunday, March 6 at the winery in San Saba. These parties are a great excuse to get our club members together to chat about our new releases with our winemaker, Penny Adams, taste the new vintages, pick up their new wines, and have a lot of fun.

WHEN: Sunday, March 6, 2016 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm WHERE: Wedding Oak Winery - 316 East Wallace San Saba, TX 76877

This party will be no different: we’ll have lots of wine, and fun on tap. Revel in live music by country star Kirk Baxley, and enjoy light bites while you sip on your wines.

If tasting our new releases isn’t enough, we’ll let you taste wines that will be released in the future with a special barrel tasting for purchase at 3:00 and 4:00 pm. Penny will host this exclusive tasting of our young red wines only for our Wine Club Members and provide insight into how she made these wines.

The star of the show will be our newly released wines and a couple of gems that we cellared and are re-releasing. Here is what you can expect.

2015 Albariño — a lovely dry white wine made with 100% Albariño from the Texas High Planes. It has a gorgeous golden color and aromatic crushed pineapple, red apple, lemon, and orange peel scents with a touch of Thai basil. It’s a full wine packed with ruby red grapefruit and red apple flavors with a lingering finish of lemon zest. It will go great with grilled veggies or roast pork loin.

2015 Viognier High Valley — made with grapes grown in our estate vineyard, this vintage has fresh green apple, peach, and honeysuckle aromas and ripe peach, lemon custard, honey comb and almond flavors, with a bright citrus finish. The velvety texture and zippy acidity let it pair well with shrimp or pasta with creamy alfredo sauce.

2014 Texedo Red — a completely new addition to our Bridal Suite of wines, this bold and exciting wine is made with 100% Texas-grown Dolcetto grapes. It’s incredibly complex with aromas of black cherry, strawberry, cigar box, and hearty earthiness. The palate matches with bright cherry and fresh plum flavors that lingers lovingly. This is a great wine with barbeque or prime rib.

2012 Harmony Ridge — after a previous release, we decided to give this Texas red wine, named for one of the historic bridges of San Saba County, 12 more months of extra age in the bottle. It is the last of our 2012 vintage. We’re excited to re-release this deliciously harmonious blend of Texas-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Tempranillo truly delivers a big wine with beautiful dark ruby color, smoky, berry fruit, tart cherries with leather aromas and a superb long finish. Enjoy with locally-raised grilled meats.

2013 Syrah Réserve — Here is another gem that we allowed to age a while. This Texas tough wine is made with 77% Syrah, 23% Tannat grown in San Saba County and packs a wallop of ripe berry and cherry aromas layered with tobacco, black pepper and chocolate. Although this big, rich, spicy wine has potential to age even more, enjoy now with wild game on the grill. An early release of it won a bronze medal at the 2015 Lone Star International Wine Competition Awards.

Club members’ wines will be ready for pick up, so you can sit and enjoy the party. Club members are also encouraged to bring friends who might be interested in joining our club too. If you aren’t already a club member, but want to get in on the fun, it is as simple as joining:
