Tempranillo Reserva 2015
Individual barrels of our Tempranillo and Grenache blend from Mirasol Vineyard were hand-selected from a much larger barrel lot by our winemaker Penny Adams to create our Reserve Tempranillo.
This wine is dark plum red in color, with fruit forward aromatics of plums and cherries. Medium in body, with bright cherries and dusty tannins in the front to mid-palate followed by a lingering finish.
These grapes are grown at Mirasol Vineyard in Lampasas County, managed by our viticulturist and winemaker Penny Adams. They were hand harvested in the early morning hours before the heat of early August. Grapes were transported to our production facility in San Saba where they were sorted by hand, crushed and cold macerated for a period of 4 days prior to inoculation of primary fermentation. The lot was pumped over 3-4 times per day during primary fermentation over a 7 to 10-day period and were inoculated for secondary fermentation at the end of primary. The wine was pressed out into stainless steel and allowed to settle for several days prior to barrel-down.
Primary fermentation in stainless steel with aging in neutral French oak barrels for 15 months.
